„analyse mir unmöglich, aller witz in toenen ausgegeben. brief folgt“, telegrafierte Richard Strauss auf die schriftliche Anfrage zum Programm seiner Sinfonischen Dichtung Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche – und tatsächlich ist der Titel Programm. In der Tradition von Liszt und Berlioz vertonte er, nach der Vorlage eines mittelniederdeutschen Volksbuchs, fünf Streiche des Schalks Till Eulenspiegel – mit rahmendem Prolog und Epilog – und griff dabei auf das Rondo-Prinzip zurück, das bereits für Don Juan strukturgebend war.
Ebenfalls nach einer literarischen Vorlage, aber in gänzlich anderer Struktur, komponierte GMD Anna Skryleva Mirror für Sopran und Orchester. Ausgehend von ihrem gleichnamigen Gedicht, einem Palindrom – das von vorn und hinten gelesen werden kann – überträgt sie einzelne Silben und ganze Worte in Motivstrukturen, sodass das Gedicht nicht nur zur sprachlichen, sondern auch zur formalen Grundlage der Komposition wird. Gemeinsam mit Ensemblemitglied Rosha Fitzhowle gestaltet sie zum Abschluss der Spielzeit die Uraufführung ihrer eigenen Komposition.

"It's impossible for me to analyze, all jokes spent in tones. letter follows”, Richard Strauss telegraphed in response to the written request for the program of his symphonic poem Till Eulenspiegel's amusing pranks – and indeed the title says it all. In the tradition of Liszt and Berlioz, based on a Middle Low German chapbook, he set five pranks by the rogue Till Eulenspiegel to music - with a framing prologue and epilogue - and in doing so he drew on the rondo principle that was already structuring for Don Juan . GMD Anna Skryleva also composed Mirror
based on a literary model, but with a completely different structure for soprano and orchestra. Starting from her poem of the same name, a palindrome – which can be read from the front and back – she transfers individual syllables and whole words into motif structures, so that the poem becomes not only the linguistic but also the formal basis of the composition. Together with ensemble member Rosha Fitzhowle, she will premiere her own composition at the end of the season.
