Daniel Oren

Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, he studied singing, piano and cello since childhood. At the age of 13 his musical talent was recognised internationally: he was chosen by Leonard Bernstein to sing the solo of Chichester Psalms on live Israeli television (1968). At the age of 17, Daniel Oren started to study conducting at the Hochschule in Berlin. In 1975, he was awarded first prize at the Herbert Von Karajan International Conducting Competition (Berlin). In 1978 he began conducting in the United States at the Festival of Two Worlds, while at the same time beginning a career in Italy, where in 1978 he was appointed music director of the Teatro Dell'Opera in Rome.
