Dusseldorf, GermanyBorn in Munich, tenor Johannes Preißinger studied opera and concert singing with Ks. Lorenz Fehenberger in his hometown. While still a student, the tenor was a prizewinner at the federal competition for conservatories in Bremen, at the Bavarian state competition of the VDMK, among others. In 1987 he received the State Prize for Young Artists from the Free State of Bavaria. This was followed by engagements in Regensburg (1983-85), at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich (1985-1993) and finally at the Komische Oper in Berlin. Guest performances have taken him to Tokyo as Remendado ("Carmen", Kupfer/Reuter), to Amsterdam as Adam ("The Bird Seller"), to Düsseldorf and Essen as Wenzel ("The Bartered Bride") and as Pedrillo ("The Kidnapping from the Seraglio") to Essen and Marrakech.
