Biography
The Finnish operatic bass Timo Riihonen was born 1983 in Mikkeli, Finland. He studied at the renowned Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, from where he graduated as Master of Arts in 2010. In 2008 he joined the International Opera Studio in Zürich, which made it possible for him to sing many roles at the Zürich Opera House. In 2007 he was awarded the Matti Salminen - foundation scholarship. In the summer of 2008 he studied at the Mozart Academy in the festival at Aix-en-Provence with Susanna Eken and Tom Krause. He was a member of the opera house ensembles in Kiel and Deutsche oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf between the years 2009-2018. Since 2018 he works as a freelance artist all over the world. As a guest soloist, he has performed in many of the top opera houses and concert halls in the world.
