I've been interested in music and especially opera since my school days. When I sat at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein for the first time at the age of 8 and the curtain opened with this smell of linseed oil, dust and old cloth, which is still typical of the Düsseldorf Opera, to the staging of Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel, which was still halfway up-to-date at the time (which is still played today), it was clear to me that I wanted to go there.
