Biography
Born in Venice, Balsadonna has enjoyed a long working relationship with Antonio Pappano, who appointed him as Chorus Director at La Monnaie, Brussels. He later joined The Royal Opera as Chorus Director from 2004 to 2016. As an opera conductor, his engagements have included Madama Butterfly, La bohéme, Tosca, Turandot, Nabucco, La traviata, Don Carlo, Lucrezia Borgia, Lucia di Lammermoor, Norma, La Sonnambula, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Don Pasquale and Pagliacci at houses including The Royal Opera, Mariinsky Theatre, Opera Nice, Cincinnati Opera, Teatro la Fenice, Venice, Teatro de La Maestranza Sevilla, Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège, Teatro Regio, Turin and Ópera de Oviedo.
