Hailed by the New York Times as a soprano of “...gleaming sound, free and easy high notes, agile coloratura runs and lyrical grace,” Jessica Pratt is quickly becoming one of today's foremost interpreters of some of bel canto's most challenging repertoire.
Since her European debut in 2007 in the title role of Lucia di Lammermoor, other highlights of Ms. Pratt's schedule have included performances at some of Europe's most important theaters and festivals: the Vienna States Opera, Teatro alla Scala Milan, Opernhaus Zürich, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Wildbad Rossini Festival, and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, working with conductors such as: Daniel Oren, Antonino Fogliani, Donato Renzetti, Wayne Marshall, David Parry, Nello Santi, Kent Nagano, Sir Colin Davis and Christian Thielemann.
In a busy 2011/12 season, Ms. Pratt sang performances of Lucia di Lammermoor with Israeli Opera, and Teatro San Carlo Napoli, Amina in La sonnambula, as well as her solo vocal recital “La prima donna” at Teatro La Fenice, Cunegonde in Candide with Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Elvira in I puritani with Teatros Cremona, Brescia, Pavia, and Como, as well as performances of Amira in the new Critical Edition of Ciro in Babalonia with the Caramoor Festival, New York and the Rossini Opera Festival, Pesaro.
During the 2012/13 season, Jessica Pratt gave her acclaimed debuts at the Verdi Festival in Parma as Gilda alongside Leo Nucci as Rigoletto, at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Lucia, at the Vlaamse Opera in their New Year's Concert, her role debut as Matilde in Guillaume Tell in Lima with Juan Diego Florez as Arnold and will be singing her first Giulietta in I Capuleti e i Montecchi in Reims, Lisinga in Rossini's Demetrio e Polibio in Naples, Gilda in Sevilla, again with Leo Nucci and her first Giovanna in Verdi's Giovanna d'Arco at the Martina Franca Festival.
Other future engagements include Amina in La sonnambula in Bari and Inès in Meyerbeer's L'africaine at Teatro La Fenice.
On CD and DVD Ms. Pratt has recorded for the Unitel Classical, Arthaus Musik, Naxos, and Bel Air Classique labels in repertoire ranging from Rossini's Desdemona in Otello from the Wildbad Rossini Festival, Amira in Ciro in Babilonia and the title role of Adelaide di Borgogna with the Rossini Opera Festival, a live broadcast New Year's Gala from Teatro La Fenice, Donna Isabella in Vaccai's La sposa di Messina, as well as Donizetti's Viva la mamma from Teatro alla Scala Milan.
Ms. Pratt is the winner of several prestigious international vocal competitions including the Australian Singing Competition, the Vienna State Opera Award, and the Rome Opera Award. In May 2013, she will be awarded the prestigious “La Siola d'Oro – Lina Pagliughi” Award.
She completed her vocal studies in Italy working with Maestro Gianluigi Gelmetti at the Rome Opera as well as with world-renowned soprano Renata Scotto and is now studying with soprano Lella Cuberli. British born and raised in Australia, Ms. Pratt currently resides in Como, Italy.
