ドイツ・ロマン派、とりわけその最後の輝きを体現したとされる作曲家リヒャルト・シュトラウス。常任指揮者 山下一史がライフワークとするそのリヒャルト・シュトラウス作品より、心血注がれた交響詩や劇音楽の分野のエッセンスを艶やかにお届けします。組曲「町人貴族」は、モリエール原作の古典劇に基づく粋な室内オーケストラ作品。大阪交響楽団の親密なアンサンブルがきらりと光ります。一方、大管弦楽を駆使した交響詩「ドン・ファン」と「死と浄化」。目くるめくオーケストラの響きが最後に描き出すのは非業の死か、死の救済か？シーズン掉尾の定期演奏会を山下のタクトが劇的に締め括ります。
