The Italian composer Joe Schittino (*1977) has composed an oboe concerto for the longtime solo oboist Lukas Brandt. The piece, composed with "impressionistic" fantasy, is inspired by the fountains of Osnabrück. In his Haydn Variations, Johannes Brahms worked on a theme from a classical wind chorale that was wrongly attributed to Joseph Haydn. The work is compositionally a masterpiece. Robert Schumann composed his first symphony in feverish creative haste within four days, in a "spring urge that probably carries people into old age" - as he describes it. The work bears witness to a great awakening character.
