The Tartini String Quartet is today regarded as the leading such ensemble in Slovenia. The quartet started off as the String Quartet of the Slovenian Philharmonic in 1983, when the four heads of the string groups in the Orchestra decided to try out their wealth of musical skills in a chamber setting. The concert programmes of the Tartini String Quartet gain special value through the constant focus of the members on inviting the participation of renowned Slovenian and international musicians, and in this way offering an original complement to their programme. At the same time this contributes to the continuous growth of the quartet as an adaptable chamber music performance ensemble. The final concert of the series marking the 40th anniversary of the Tartini String Quartet will feature Schubert’s String Quintet in C Major, which is undoubtedly the composer’s greatest work for chamber music. They will be joined by the young Croat cellist Monika Leskovar, who first drew attention to herself in 1995 when she became the youngest winner of the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Japan at the age of thirteen. She has performed as a soloist with many renowned orchestras, and in the 2010/2011 season she played first cello for the Munich Philharmonic. Since 2012 she has been a teacher at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland in Lugano, and since 2017 an Assistant Professor at the Academy of Music in Zagreb.

Godalni kvartet Tartini velja za vodilno slovensko tovrstno zasedbo. Svojo pot je začel kot Godalni kvartet Slovenske filharmonije leta 1983, ko so se vodje godalnih skupin orkestra odločili, da bogato glasbeno znanje preizkusijo v skupni komorni igri. Posebno veljavo daje programom koncertov Godalnega kvarteta Tartini stalna skrb članov, da vabijo medse priznane slovenske in tuje glasbenike ter tako izvirno dopolnjujejo svoj program. Obenem to prispeva k stalni rasti kvarteta kot prilagodljivega komornega glasbenega izvajalskega korpusa. Sklepni koncert slavnostnega cikla koncertov ob 40-letnici delovanja Godalnega kvarteta Tartini zaokrožuje Schubertov Godalni kvintet v C-duru, ki je gotovo skladateljev največji dosežek v komorni glasbi. Pridružila se jim bo mlada hrvaška čelistka Monika Leskovar, ki je javnost opozorila nase leta 1995, ko je s trinajstimi leti postala najmlajša zmagovalka mednarodnega tekmovanja Čajkovski na Japonskem. Kot solistka je nastopila s številnimi priznanimi orkestri, v sezoni 2010/2011 je delovala kot prva violončelistka Münchenskih filharmonikov, od leta 2012 je profesorica na Konservatoriju italijanske Švice v Luganu, od leta 2017 pa docentka na Akademiji za glasbo v Zagrebu.
