Many people probably remember the scandalous case of the Opera in 2018, when it dared to perform the opera Porgy and Bess with white actors. Everyone could feel that the Opera was doing nothing more than performing in the original language a work of universal value and meaning, composed (if this fact was important) by a white author from a European family, George Gershwin, yet they did not dare to take a stand in favor of the institution's performance. The Opera also argued that if Bartók Bluebeard is sung in Hungarian by an African-American artistis also the triumph of our universal human values. Now a great character, the world-famous black bassist, Sir Willard White, will come and show how it is possible for him to sing Bluebeard in a single concert, while in the other half of the evening our Hungarian Porgy, András Palerdi, sings excerpts from Gershwin's work.

Bizonyára sokan emlékeznek az Opera 2018-as, nagy port felvert esetére, amikor fehér szereplőkkel merészelte eljátszani a Porgy és Bess című operát. Mindenki érezhette, hogy az Opera semmi mást nem csinál, mint eljátszik eredeti nyelven egy egyetemes értékű és értelmű alkotást, amelyet (ha ez a tény fontos lenne) európai családból származó fehér szerző, George Gershwin komponált, az intézmény előadása mellett állást foglalni mégsem mertek. Az Opera azzal is érvelt, hogy ha afroamerikai művész énekli magyarul a Bartók Kékszakállúját, az is egyetemes emberi értékeink diadala. Most egy nagy jellem, a világhírű fekete baszszista, Sir Willard White eljön, és megmutatja, hogyan lehetséges egyetlen hangversenyen a Kékszakállút neki elénekelnie, míg az est másik felében magyar Porgynk, Palerdi András énekel részleteket Gershwin művéből.
