A woman at the center of the action. And not just any. Dido, the ruler of Carthage, is a strong and powerful woman. And yet she is torn between a sense of duty and love, between questions of her own honor and her own desires. 

The students of the singing classes at the Robert Schumann Hochschule present Henry Purcell's only opera, a highlight of the Baroque era. Adapted to the performance location, Sabine Hahn designs a relaxed and reduced staging that transfers the mythological saga into the present day.

Eine Frau im Zentrum des Geschehens. Und nicht irgendeine. Dido, die Herrscherin von Karthago, ist eine starke und mächtige Frau. Und dennoch ist sie zerrissen zwischen Pflichtbewusstsein und Liebe, zwischen Fragen der eigenen Ehre und dem eigenen Verlangen. 

Die Studierenden der Gesangsklassen der Robert Schumann Hochschule zeigen Henry Purcells einzige Oper, ein Höhepunkt des Barocks. Angepasst an dem Aufführungsort, entwirft Sabine Hahn eine lockere und reduzierte Inszenierung, die die mythologische Sage ins Heute überführt.
