Une soirée inoubliable à (s')offrir pour célébrer la nouvelle année à Lyon du 29 déc au 1er janv.

Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider confie volontiers son affection pour La Chauve-Souris, dont il souligne la grande finesse derrière son apparente légèreté. Ce n’est pas un hasard si les meilleurs spécialistes de ce répertoire sont également, dans de nombreux cas (et dans celui du directeur musical de l’Orchestre national de Lyon), d’excellents mozartiens ! Pour le livret, Strauss a puisé à la meilleure source : Le Réveillon, une comédie en vaudeville d’Henri Meilhac et Ludovic Halévy, les artisans des grands succès d’Offenbach et les futurs librettistes, en 1875, de Carmen.
L’action est transportée de Paris à Vienne, mais la trame générale reste la même, à quelques détails près – le gardien de prison se soûle désormais à la slivovitz, et non plus au cognac ! L’étincelante ouverture préfigure le ton et le raffinement de l’ouvrage où, dans une écriture et une progression dramatique parfaitement maîtrisées, on s’étourdit de valses, de csárdás et de polkas. Lumières, costumes et scénographie donneront tout leur faste à ces exécutions, dotées d’un plateau de haute volée. On y remarque notamment Siobhan Stagg, pour sa prise de rôle en Rosalinde, Michael Schade, qui a incarné Eisenstein avec brio à Toronto et à l’Opéra de Vienne, et Jean-Paul Fouchécourt, qu’on attend avec impatience dans l’inénarrable avocat Blind.
L’œuvre sera chantée en allemand, mais les dialogues parlés laisseront place à un texte récité par le comédien François Chattot, texte élaboré par le metteur en scène Jean Lacornerie à partir de la pièce originale, Le Réveillon.

Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider willingly confides his affection for La Chauve-Souris , whose great finesse he emphasizes behind its apparent lightness. It is no coincidence that the best specialists in this repertoire are also, in many cases (and in that of the musical director of the National Orchestra of Lyon), excellent Mozartians! For the libretto, Strauss drew on the best source: Le Réveillon , a vaudeville comedy by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy, the architects of Offenbach's great successes and the future librettists, in 1875, of Carmen .
The action is transported from Paris to Vienna, but the general framework remains the same, except for a few details – the prison guard now gets drunk on slivovitz, and no longer on cognac! The sparkling opening prefigures the tone and the refinement of the work where, in a writing and a perfectly mastered dramatic progression, one is dizzy with waltzes, csárdás and polkas. Lights, costumes and scenography will give all their splendor to these performances, equipped with a high-flying set. We note in particular Siobhan Stagg, for his role as Rosalind, Michael Schade, who brilliantly played Eisenstein in Toronto and at the Vienna Opera, and Jean-Paul Fouchécourt, whom we await impatiently in the unspeakable Blind lawyer.
The work will be sung in German, but the spoken dialogues will give way to a text recited by the actor François Chattot, a text drawn up by the director Jean Lacornerie from the original play, Le Réveillon .
