On April 21, the world-famous Latvian mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča will give a solo concert in the Great Hall, accompanied by the orchestra of the Latvian National Opera. Conductor Karel Marks Shishon will be at the conductor's desk. For many years, Elina Garanča has been enthralling audiences in the world's most prestigious opera houses and concert halls - the Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Covent Garden Opera, the Bavarian State Opera, the Vienna State Opera, Carnegie Hall in New York, London's Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam's Concertgebow and elsewhere. The artist's varied concert programs include works from Schubert and Schumann to Richard Strauss, Rachmaninoff and Raymond Paul. Her interpretations of leading operatic roles are hailed as iconic. The singer deeply empathizes with each role – her beautiful, passionate voice radiates power and warmth, complemented by a regal bearing and stage charm. Since 2005, she has been an artist of the record company Deutsche Grammophon , four of her seven solo albums have receivedECHO Klassik balvu. British conductor Karel Mark Schichon enchants audiences worldwide with his temperament, passion and musicality. Since 2017, he has been the chief conductor and artistic director of the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2012, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England awarded Shishon the rank of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his achievements in music, while in 2016 he was elected a member of the Royal Academy of Music in London for his achievements in the profession. The conductor has collaborated with such notable orchestras as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Vienna State Opera, the Deutsches Opera in Berlin and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and elsewhere.
