"Sister Angelica" is a special opera: it was written exclusively for female voices. This gives rise to its infinitely gentle sound and piercing emotionality. In the center of the opera is the figure of a young woman who gave birth to a child out of wedlock and was forced to leave for a monastery, so Puccini held the first public performance of the work in a narrow circle of nuns in the monastery where his sister lived. The listeners were so moved that they could not hold back their tears; they were unanimous in their opinion that the heroine of the opera who had sinned deserved forgiveness.

Gianni Schicchi is a real bestseller, full of vibrant life and a fantastic sense of humor. This small work is very popular in the world.

It is believed that such an incident actually occurred in Florence in 1299. He was described by Dante in his "Divine Comedy" - he must have personally known the cheerful swindler Schicchi, since he placed him in the eighth circle of Hell among all kinds of forgers. A large greedy family covets the inheritance of a wealthy relative, but is left with nothing - after all, the rogue Gianni Schicchi intervenes in the action, and the plot is rapidly twisting, not allowing the characters or the public to breathe. And the composer presented his daughter Gianni Lauretta with an aria that became a world hit and sounds far beyond the opera stage.
