the story
in Seville in the 18th century. The merry barber Figaro helps Count Almaviva conquer Rosina. But Rosina is jealously guarded by the old Doctor Bartolo who intends, helped by the sinister Don Basilio, to marry his ward as soon as possible. What to do to counter the plans of the old man? Figaro is not short of ideas. However the first attempt fails. The second getaway will almost succeed, and after exchanging tickets, disguises and cleverly settled preposterous situations, the love of the beautiful Rosina and Count Almaviva, finally restored to its true identity, will end up triumphing.
The Barber of Seville by Gioacchino Rossini has several records: composed in two weeks, it is the work of a twenty-four-year-old composer, who is already on his seventeenth opera! This production of the Wiesbaden Opera succeeds in rising to the height of such prowess as the music under the baton of Marc Piollet springs here with ease, clarity and crazy speed. The distribution is in tune. As for the sets, costumes and staging, they give way to the greatest craziness.
