This "King as Shepherd" is about the young Aminta (a castrati role or trouser role for soprano), who lives as a shepherd in Phenicia and looks forward to the marriage with his beloved Elisa, unaware of the rightful king Abdolonimo of Sidon be. Love and politics get into a conflict that finally resolves in favor. Christina Pluhar, with her ensemble L'Arpeggiata and a select cast, pleads for the beauties of the whole serenata.
