Jubiläumskonzert - jubilaumsfahrt: Ein deutsches Requiem Brahms

It was external influences that prompted the young Brahms to concern himself with death and farewells. After the death of his mentor Robert Schumann, the death of his mother in 1865 gave the decisive impetus to work on the "German Requiem". From then on, Brahms composed a liturgically unbound funeral music, which is aimed at all people "who are suffering".
With the performance of the German Requiem, the Konzertchor Wuppertal eV is catching up on the concert for the 70th anniversary of the choir, which was canceled in Corona year 2020.

Es waren äußere Einflüsse, die den jungen Brahms dazu bewogen, sich mit Tod und Abschied zu beschäftigen. Nach dem Tod seines Mentors Robert Schumann gab der Tod seiner Mutter 1865 den entscheidenden Impuls zur Arbeit am „Deutschen Requiem“. Fortan komponierte Brahms an einer liturgisch ungebundenen Trauermusik, die sich an alle Menschen, „die Leid tragen“ richtet.
Mit der Aufführung des Deutschen Requiems holt der Konzertchor Wuppertal e.V. das im Corona-Jahr 2020 ausgefallene Konzert zum 70jährigen Chorjubiläum nach.
