In 2013, Opera Nordfjord was on a guest performance on Stage 2 with The Magic Flute, a memorable experience for life for all participants. In June, Opera Nordfjord will once again pack the scenery, props and costume and take the trip across the mountains from west to east, this time to bring to life The Man of La Mancha, a musical from 1965 by Dale Wasserman, with lyrics by Joe Darion, music by Mitch Leigh and Nynorsk translation by Hartvig Kiran. The musical is based on Wasserman's TV theater I, Don Quixote , which in turn was inspired by Miguel de Cervantes and his novel Don Quixote, which came out between 1605 and 1615. It tells the story of the mad knight Don Quixote, as a game in the game, performed by Cervantes and his fellow prisoners, while they wait for a hearing in prison during the Spanish Inquisition.

Opera Nordfjord had great success with the musical in Operahuset Nordfjord in the autumn of 2020 and looks forward to showing this moving and inspiring story about someone who was different than everyone around him, and who dared to be who he was and live by the dream he carried in his heart, which he was true to until recently. The production is a close collaboration with the Norwegian Opera & Ballet by opera director Randi Stene , who has generously put his skilled technical team at the helm of the district opera from Nordfjordeid. 

Directed by Aksel-Otto Bull , musical direction by Michael Pavelich , scenography and costume by Åse Hegrenes and light by Arne Kambestad. Candice Bredesen has choreography, Maren Togstad is responsible for the mask, Anndi Bergset is the props and Anne Gotaas is the cutter and production manager for the costumes.

In the main roles we meet Espen Langvik as Cervantes / Don Quixote, Eli Kristin Hanssveen as Aldonza / Dulcinea, Jan Erik Fillan as Sancho Panza. In other roles we find Trond Gudevold, Erlend Tvinnereim, Eirik Risholm Velle, Eivind Kandal, Elisabeth Gimmestad, Simon Standal Pavelich, Asbjørn Hagen, Rønnaug Torheim, Paul Jacob Helgesen, Bård Stian Dalseth and Håvard Furnes .

I 2013 var Opera Nordfjord på gjestespel på Scene 2 med Tryllefløyten, ei minnerik oppleving for livet for alle medverkande. I juni skal Opera Nordfjord igjen pakke ned kulissar, rekvisittar og kostyme og ta turen over fjellet frå vest til aust, denne gongen for å gje liv til Mannen frå La Mancha (The Man of La Mancha), ein musikal frå 1965 av Dale Wasserman, med tekst av Joe Darion, musikk av Mitch Leigh og nynorsk omsetting ved Hartvig Kiran. Musikalen er basert på Wasserman sitt TV-teater I, Don Quixote, som igjen var inspirert av Miguel de Cervantes og hans roman Don Quixote, som kom ut mellom 1605 og 1615. Den fortel historia om den galne riddaren Don Quixote, som eit spel i spelet, framført av Cervantes og hans medfangar, medan dei ventar på ei høyring i fengselet under Den spanske inkvisisjonen.

Opera Nordfjord gjorde stor suksess med musikalen i Operahuset Nordfjord hausten 2020 og ser fram til å vise fram denne rørande og inspirerande fortellinga om ein som var annleis enn alle rundt seg, og som torde å vere den han var og leve etter draumen han bar på i hjartet sitt, som han var tru mot til det siste. Produksjonen vert til eit tett  samarbeid med Den Norske Opera & Ballett ved operasjef Randi Stene, som generøst har stilt sitt dyktige tekniske team til rådevelde for distriktsoperaen frå Nordfjordeid. 

Regien er ved Aksel-Otto Bull, musikalsk leiing ved Michael Pavelich, scenografi og kostyme ved Åse Hegrenes og lys ved Arne Kambestad. Candice Bredesen har koreografi, Maren Togstad har ansvar for maske, Anndi Bergset er rekvisitør og Anne Gotaas er tilskjerar og produksjonsansvarleg for kostymene.

I hovudrollene møter vi Espen Langvik som Cervantes/Don Quixote, Eli Kristin Hanssveen som Aldonza/Dulcinea, Jan Erik Fillan som Sancho Panza. I øvrige roller finn vi Trond Gudevold, Erlend Tvinnereim, Eirik Risholm Velle, Eivind Kandal, Elisabeth Gimmestad, Simon Standal Pavelich, Asbjørn Hagen, Rønnaug Torheim, Paul Jacob Helgesen, Bård Stian Dalseth og Håvard Furnes.
