Marie-Nicole Lemieux's next album presents three sumptuous works for female voice and orchestra: Chausson’s Poème de l’Amour et de la Mer, Elgar’s Sea Pictures and, in a world premiere recording, an ‘ode-symphonie’ by Victorin Joncières entitled La Mer: https://erato.lnk.to/mersLY

Appropriately, Lemieux’s partners in the recording are associated with one of France’s great maritime cities: they are the Orchestre et Choeurs Nationaux Bordeaux Aquitaine and their British-born music director Paul Daniel.

A world singing star, Marie-Nicole Lemieux has established a special bond with the Orchestra, which recently materialized with the release of the album Mers (2018), the interpretation of Chant de la Terre à Bordeaux and the a remarkable performance during an operatic concert dedicated to bel canto alongside Joyce El-Khouri (2021). The Canadian contralto shares the bill with young Estonian conductor Anu Tali recently described by the Herald Tribune as “charismatic, brilliant and energetic”. The concert will open with The Weight of Unlived Lives by Estonian composer Erkki-Sven Tüür, a score performed for the first time in France.

Star mondiale du chant, Marie-Nicole Lemieux a établi avec l’Orchestre un lien particulier, lequel s’est récemment concrétisé par la sortie de l’album Mers (2018), par l’interprétation du Chant de la Terre à Bordeaux et par une prestation remarquée lors d’un concert lyrique dédié au bel canto aux côtés de Joyce El-Khouri (2021). La contralto canadienne partage l’affiche avec la jeune cheffe estonienne Anu Tali récemment qualifiée par le Herald Tribune de « charismatique, brillante et énergique ». Le concert s’ouvrira par Le poids des vies non vécues du compositeur estonien Erkki-Sven Tüür, partition jouée pour la première fois en France.
