„Jak ja nie cierpię Salzburga […] niczego się tam nie usłyszy; nie ma teatru, nie ma opery!” – skarżył się Mozart w liście do Josepha Bullingera. Mimo nieskrywanej niechęci do rodzimego miasta, tworzy tam znakomite kompozycje, które odzwierciedlają doświadczenia nabyte podczas licznych podróży przefiltrowane przez własny geniusz. To tam na początku 1772 roku, pomiędzy wyjazdami do Italii, powstaje Divertimento D-dur KV 136. Zarówno trzyczęściowy układ kompozycji, jak i – zapewne inspirowane muzyką włoską – elementy stylu koncertującego sprawiają, że mimo skromnej smyczkowej obsady zyskuje symfoniczny charakter. Kilka lat później, w lipcu 1779 powstaje przedostatnia salzburska symfonia Mozarta – utrzymana w tonacji B-dur, a przez Köchla oznaczona numerem 319. Pierwotnie trzyczęściowe dzieło już w Wiedniu kompozytor uzupełnia o Menueta. W dopełnionej w ten sposób dojrzałej formie Mozart doskonale łączy lekkość brzmienia z bogactwem harmoniczno-melodycznych rozwiązań.

Całość programu wieńczy Symfonia g-moll Josepha Haydna – chyba najbardziej charakterystyczna z cyklu sześciu symfonii paryskich skomponowanych na zamówienie hrabiego d’Ogny w 1785 roku. Podtytuł La poule (czyli Kura) utwór zawdzięcza „gdaczącemu” drugiemu tematowi z pierwszej części, który stanowi humorystyczny kontrast dla majestatycznego tematu otwierającego symfonię. Zarysowana krótkimi wartościami melodia smyczków uzupełniona o repetowane na jednej wysokości dźwięku rytmy punktowane w partii oboju rzeczywiście może kojarzyć się z odgłosami wydawanymi przez wiejskie ptactwo. Humorystycznych elementów jest w tej kompozycji zresztą więcej, jak choćby niespodziewane kontrasty dynamiczne w Andante czy sielankowy nastrój menueta.

“I hate Salzburg […] you won't hear anything there; no theater, no opera!” Mozart complained in a letter to Joseph Bullinger. Despite his undisguised aversion to his native city, he creates excellent compositions there, which reflect the experience gained during numerous travels, filtered by his own genius. It is there, at the beginning of 1772, between trips to Italy, that Divertimento in D major, KV 136, is written. Both the three-movement arrangement of the composition and the elements of the concertante style, probably inspired by Italian music, give it a symphonic character despite its modest string ensemble. A few years later, in July 1779, Mozart's penultimate Salzburg symphony is written – in the key of B flat major, and marked by Köchel with the number 319. The original three-movement work was completed by the composer with a Minuet already in Vienna.

The whole program is crowned by Joseph Haydn's Symphony in G minor – probably the most characteristic of the series of six Parisian symphonies composed in 1785, commissioned by Count d'Ogny. The work's subtitle La poule (or The Hen) is owed to the cackling second theme of the first movement, which provides a humorous contrast to the majestic opening theme of the symphony. The melody of the strings, outlined with short notes, supplemented with rhythms repeated at one pitch, punctuated in the oboe part, may actually be associated with sounds made by rural birds. There are more humorous elements in this composition, such as the unexpected dynamic contrasts in Andante or the idyllic mood of the minuet.
