Gallic high priestess, Norma slept with the enemy: she had two children by the Roman officer Pollione (tenor). When she learns that the latter is abandoning her for another priestess, the young Adalgisa, Norma is as threatening as Medea...But she will end up sacrificing herself.

At the heart of romantic bel canto, Norma is a dark masterpiece of marmoreal tragic grandeur, with a pitch that commands respect and arouses the purest emotion. The title role (one of the most perilous in the entire operatic repertoire!) was cut to the superhuman measures of Giuditta Pasta and was taken up by the greatest, from Malibran to Callas... Who knew how to find the dreamy and painful abandonment of " Casta Diva”, a sublime aria, used in turn by cinema and advertising, has become one of the most famous pieces in the entire operatic repertoire.
