As a literary basis for The Trojans, Hector Berlioz chose nothing less than Virgil's Aeneid. Les Troyens is a real French grand opera, the most monumental of the romantic opera genres. Not only kings, but also entire nations act here, and therefore the score is decorated with powerful choirs and ensembles with an impressive number of participants. Anthems, marches, processions require a huge number of artists on stage. The director and stage designer of the opera giant was Yannis Kokkos, a Frenchman of Greek origin. He revived his 2003 performance, which he staged for the festivities in honor of Berlioz's bicentennial in Paris. The stylish and laconic scenography successfully uses a huge mirror as the main element: grandiose events reflected in it become even more majestic.

В качестве литературной основы для «Троянцев» Гектор Берлиоз выбрал ни много ни мало «Энеиду» Вергилия. «Троянцы» – это настоящая французская большая опера, самый монументальный из романтических оперных жанров. Здесь действуют не только цари, но и целые народы, и потому партитуру украшают мощные хоры и ансамбли с внушительным числом участников. Гимны, марши, шествия требуют огромного количества артистов на сцене. Режиссером и сценографом оперного гиганта выступил француз греческого происхождения Яннис Коккос. Он воскресил свой спектакль 2003 года, который ставил к празднествам в честь двухсотлетия Берлиоза в Париже. В стильной и лаконичной сценографии удачно использовано в качестве главного элемента огромное зеркало: отраженные в нем грандиозные события становятся еще более величественными.
