Petrenko en Wildschut spelen Tsjaikovski & Sheherezade
Top young violinist Noa Wildschut is soloist in Tchaikovsky's intimate Souvenir d'un lieu cher. In addition, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Vasily Petrenko plays Respighi and Rimsky-Korsakov. Noa Wildschut with Tchaikovsky Rome, the Russian countryside and Arabia are the destinations of this concert. Noa Wildschut, the still young but now very successful top violinist and in season 2019/2020 ECHO rising star, plays one of the most intimate solo works written for her instrument. Enjoying the summer tranquility at one of the country houses of his benefactress Nadezhda von Meck, Tchaikovsky composed a lovely three-movement work for violin and piano that he considered a "memory of a dear place. Glazunov later made an arrangement of it for violin and orchestra, which became at least as popular as the original. Arabian fairy tales and Roman fountains Rimsky-Korsakov's destination is the exotic world of the Arabian fairy tale collection 1001 Nights. In his symphonic poem Sheherazade, the composer tells in sound some of the most beautiful stories from this famous collection. The opening alone is striking, in which the stern chords of the harsh sultan are tuned to mildness by the sweet-voiced violin of the beautiful Sheherazade. But the journey begins in Rome, where Respighi's Fontane di Roma takes the listener past some of the city's many fountains. The Radio Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by the passionate Russian-English conductor Vasily Petrenko, a regular guest of the orchestra for many years.
