Cette saison, au fil des opéras et concerts symphoniques programmés dans la grande salle, on découvre les jeunes et talentueux artistes du Lyon Opéra Studio : l’Italo-Allemande Giulia Scopelliti, la Sud-Africaine Thandiswa Mpongwana, le Britannique Robert Lewis, le Polonais Pawel Trojak et le Thaïlandais Pete Thanapat ! L’Opéra Underground les accueille pour une série de récitals avec piano à l’Amphi : l’occasion de les découvrir dans l’intimité du lied, de la mélodie, de la chanson.

Si elle n’était pas devenue chanteuse, Thandiswa Mpongwana aurait été médecin. Elle a étudié la médecine avant le chant et pour elle, chanter est comme soigner. Cela guérit son âme et elle espère avec son chant atteindre aussi les âmes des autres. Elle aime l’aventure, l’escalade et le théâtre. Elle n’a pas de héros, ou plutôt… elle se considère comme sa propre héroïne. L’opéra et la scène sont pour elle comme un voyage dans le temps où il s’agit de raconter des histoires.

This season, through the operas and symphonic concerts programmed in the main hall, we discover the young and talented artists of the Lyon Opéra Studio  : the Italian-German Giulia Scopelliti, the South African Thandiswa Mpongwana, the Briton Robert Lewis, the Polish Pawel Trojak and Thai Pete Thanapat! The Opéra Underground welcomes them for a series of recitals with piano at the Amphi: the opportunity to discover them in the intimacy of the lied, the melody, the song.

If she hadn't become a singer, Thandiswa Mpongwana would have been a doctor. She studied medicine before singing and for her, singing is like healing. This heals her soul and she hopes with her singing to reach the souls of others as well. She loves adventure, rock climbing and theatre. She doesn't have a hero, or rather… she considers herself her own heroine. Opera and the stage are for her like a trip back in time where it is a question of telling stories.
