Extreme emotional worlds that can hardly be put into words become pure music in Italian bel canto. This is also the case in Rossini's opera Sigismondo (1814) − a forgotten coloratura gem that needs to be rediscovered. Intrigue and madness, idyll and tumult of battle determine the plot. In the end, King Sigismondo is reconciled with his wife, who was wrongly suspected of being unfaithful and believed dead. How he – plagued by pangs of conscience – slides back and forth between delusion and reality is something Rossini impressively put into music. A work that is not only musically but also psychologically interesting, with which the Munich Radio Orchestra commemorates the 150th anniversary of the composer's death!

Extreme Gefühlswelten, die kaum in Worte zu fassen sind, werden im italienischen Belcanto zu purer Musik. So auch in Rossinis Oper Sigismondo (1814) − einem vergessenen Koloraturen-Juwel, das es wiederzuentdecken gilt. Intrige und Wahnsinn, Idylle und Schlachtengetümmel bestimmen die Handlung. Am Ende versöhnt sich König Sigismondo mit seiner fälschlich der Untreue verdächtigten, tot geglaubten Frau. Wie er – geplagt von Gewissensqualen – zwischen Wahn und Realität hin- und hergleitet, das hat Rossini eindrucksvoll in Noten gesetzt. Ein nicht nur musikalisch, sondern auch psychologisch interessantes Werk, mit dem das Münchner Rundfunkorchester an den 150. Todestag des Komponisten erinnert!
