In collaboration with creative partner Pierre Audi and composer/conductor Tan Dun, the Concertgebouworkest presents a groundbreaking music performance in which Tan Dun's Requiem for Nature will have its world premiere with choir and soloists.
Virtuosity and innovation go hand in hand with Tan Dun's spirituality, contemplation and seductive orchestral sounds. He will perform for the Concertgebouw Orchestra for the third time. In the imposing Gashouder, the commissioned work Requiem for Nature, derived from his large-scale Buddha Passion, can be heard. In addition to the Rotterdam choir Laurens Vocaal, three soloists can be heard: the Chinese dancer and pipa player Chen Yining, the throat singer Hasibagen from Mongolia (also a player of the morin khuur, a kind of cello) and the Tibetan singer Zeren Yangjin. Pierre Audi, creative partner of the orchestra, is inspired by the music and the theatrical space of the Gashouder. Tan Dun has worked with the renowned director on several occasions, always with exceptional results.
