German-American bass, Malte Roesner, gathered his first solo experiences as a boy soprano. He studied both musicology and vocal performance, and continued his education in postgraduate studies in art song interpretation with Irwin Gage. Several years ago he switched to bass repertoire, having previously sung as a baritone. Malte Roesner is an alumnus of the German National Academic Foundation and the Richard Wagner Bursary Fund. In October of 2022, he will sing the role of the rebel leader Pablo in the world premiere of Brian Wilbur Grundstrom's For Whom the Bell Tolls, the first opera based on a Hemingway novel, co-produced by the Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia and the Rome Symphony Orchestra in Georgia.
