Bio: Anna Werle has graduated from University of Arts in her home town Berlin with distinction. She studied and still works with Robert Gambill.
In addition she attended Master Classes with Montserrat Caballé, Grace Bumbry, Mya Besselink, Lorenzo Regazzo and Christina Pless as well as with the directors Michael Hampe and Frank Hilbrich.
In the season 2021/22 ANNA will debut as BRANGÄNE/Tristan und Isolde at Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari and as CHARLOTTE/Werther, OLGA/Onegin, Orlovsky/Die Fledermaus and 3. DAME/Die Zauberflöte.
Planned debuts at Semperoper Dresden, Queensland Opera Brisbane (BRANGÄNE/Tristan und Isolde) and at Teatro San Carlo di Napoli (Lustige Witwe) have been cancelled or postponed due to the Corona pandemic.
In the season 2019/20 Anna debuted as MADDALENA/Rigoletto at Mainfranken Theater Würzburg, as CENERENTOLA at Stadttheater Bremerhaven and as FRAGOLETTO/Les Brigandes at Staatsoperette Dresden. She returns to Staatsoper Stuttgart as 2. HOFDAME/Der Prinz von Homburg and to Oper Halle as DORABELLA/Così fan tutte. On the concert stage Anna has performed Verdi-Requiem in Hamburg, Dvorak-Requiem at Berliner Philharmonie, Wesendoncklieder with Vogtlandphilharmonie, a french/spanish program with Lausitzer Philharmonie, an opera gala with Bergische Symphoniker and New Years concerts with Philharmonie Südwestfalen.
In the season 2018/19 Anna debuted as ROSINA/Il Barbiére di Siviglia both at Staatstheater Nürnberg and Paphos Aphrodite Festival as well as 2. HOFDAME/Der Prinz von Homburg at Staatsoper Stuttgart. At Staatsoperette Dresden she returned to perform GANYMED/Die schöne Galathée and CIESCA/Gianni Schicchi in a new production as well as CHERUBINO/Le Nozze di Figaro . At Oper Halle she also performed CHERUBINO and in unfinished Mozart operas in the roles of AURETTA/L’oca di Cairo at Tiroler Festspiele Erl. She debuted at Theater Ulm as 2. ANGEL and MARIE/Written on Skin, at Opernfestspiele Heidenheim as VICLINDA/I Lombardi (CD live recording with the label Coviello) and as a soloist for New Years concerts with Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie Herford.
Since the season 2015/16 Anna is working as a freelance singer with contracts at Komische Oper Berlin (CIESCA/Gianni Schicchi 2015), Oper Halle (DORABELLA/Cosi fan tutte 2016/17), at Staatsoperette Dresden (CHERUBINO 2017/18/19), at Staatstheater Mainz (CIESCA/Gianni Schicchi 2016), at Theater Görlitz (SECRETARY/The Consul 2017/18), at Teatro Comunale Bolzano (2. Angel/Written on Skin 2016), at Theater Lüneburg (EMILIA/Otello 2016), at Landestheater Detmold (RAMIRO/La finta giardinera 2015/16), at Oper Kiel (MERCÉDÈS/Carmen 2015/16), at Theater Freiberg (DORABELLA, LUDMILLA/Die verkaufte Braut 2018), at Tiroler Festspiele Erl (SEMIRAMIDE (Titelpartie 2017, WALTRAUTE and ROSSWEISSE/Die Walküre 2016/17/18, FLORA/La Traviata 2016/17), at Stadttheater Klagenfurt (LOLA/Cavalleria Rusticana 2014) and at Opera Festival Locri/Calabria (ROSINA/Il barbière di Siviglia 2016) under the baton of David Crescenzi. With great success she debuted in the contralto role of VERDI-REQUIEM at Berliner Dom, at Gewandhaus Leipzig as contralto in the Christmas Oratorio of Bach and 9. Symphony of Beethoven, at Yuri Bashmet Festival during the Olympic games in Sochi and at Konzerthaus Berlin in Kurt Weill's Silbersee under the baton of Ivàn Fischer.
Anna has worked with the conductors: Peter Aderhold, Pavel Baleff, Hermann Bäumer, Marcus Bosch, Rani Calderon, Tito Ceccherini, David Crescenzi, Thomas Dorsch, Ivàn Fischer, Rossen Gergov, Raoul Grüneis, Thomas Guggeis, Antony Hermus, Volker Hiemeyer, Jochem Hochstenbach, Gustav Kuhn, David Marlow, Cornelius Meister, György Mészáros, Gregor Meyer, Henrik Nánási, Hellmuth Rilling, Andrea Sanguineti, Andreas Schüller, Alexander Soddy, Thomas Stejn and Erich Wächter.
Anna has worked with the stage directors: Calixto Bieito, Wolfgang Berthold, Beverly Blankenship, Karoline Gruber, Michael Hampe, Tobias Heyder, Frank Hillbrich, Hinrich Horstkotte, Stephan Kimmig, Axel Köhler, Helen Malkowsky, Kai Metzger, Lev Pugliese, Nicola Raab, Tatjana Rese, Dirk Schmeding, Matthias von Stegmann, Marcus Stórman, Dorotty Szalma, Ernö Weil.
In the seasons 2012-2015, directly after her studies Anna has been a soloist member of Landestheater Detmold where she has performed roles like ROSINA/Barbière di Siviglia, CARMEN and MERCÉDÈS/Carmen, FLORA/La Traviata, HÄNSEL/Hänsel und Gretel, ROSSWEIßE/ Die Walküre, LA CIESCA/Gianni Schicchi, LA ZELATRICE/Suor Angelica, KAROLKA/Jenufa, 2. ANGEL and MARIE/Written on Skin, EMILIA/Otello, 2. DAME and 3. DAME/Die Zauberflöte and RAMIRO/La finta giardinera.
Anna is also a sought after concert and Lied singer. Recitals and concerts led her to Gewandhaus Leipzig, Konzerthaus Berlin, Berliner Dom, to the Yuri Bashmet Festival, to Rbb-Sendesaal Berlin, to a concert tour as contralto soloist of J.S.Bach's Missa si minor under the baton of Hellmuth Rilling in Italy (Teatro San Carlo Genova, Auditorium Manzoni Bologna, Teatro Comunale Vicenza, Teatro Comunale Siena, Castel S'Elmo Napoli). She is a regular guest at Philharmonie Baden-Baden under the baton of Pavel Baleff.
Anna has won several international competitions. Prizes include 1. Prize and Special Prize »Concorso Citta di Alcamo« (Sicilia) in 2011, 2. Prize »Concorso Bellini« (Caltanisseta) and 1. Prize »Canto Festival di Amandola« 2011. In 2013 she won a Special Prize (concert engagements) at the International Concert Competition of VdKC in Zwickau and is officially recommended concert soloist of this organization. Also in 2013 Anna has won the Critics Award at »Concorso Velluti« (Venezia). In 2014 she received 2. Prize and Special Prize for the most beautiful mezzosoprano voice at the International Competition of »Accademia Belcanto Graz« and in 2015 she has been finalist in the »Marie Kraja Festival« in Tirana.
