Bio: Bettina Rohrbeck, born in Frankfurt / Main, studied piano, composition and conducting at the University of Music in Würzburg.
She is the director of studies and Kapellmeister at Theater Kiel, has a teaching position at the University of Music and Theater Hamburg and has been at the podium of the Kiel Philharmonic Orchestra (e.g. Werther, Le Prophète, Il Barbiere di Siviglia , Così fan tutte, Die Funny) Women of Windsor, Alcina, Agrippina ).
In addition to the intensive preoccupation with early music, she is particularly dedicated to promoting young musicians and maintaining new music. In joint projects with the universities of Lübeck and Hamburg, she directed the productions The Bear by William Walton, Judith Weir's The Blonde Eckbert and the Chamber Opera Cinderella by Pauline Viardot. After taking over the musical direction of the project »Composing in School« at the festival for new music »Chiffren« in 2011, she also supervised the opera Kalif Storch , which was composed by children, and conducted the premiere with the philharmonic orchestra at the Theater im Werftpark in 2012. In recent seasons she conducted Lullys Atys , the premiere of the Chinese opera Yang Guifei by Yijie Wang, the premiere of the recycling bin (which she also arranged / composed) and In the Penal Colony by Philip Glass as a first performance in German. In addition, she was responsible for the composition and musical rehearsals for the Christmas fairy tale Alice in Wonderland, The Snow Queen, Cinderella and Hansel and Gretel .
She has worked as a conductor in France, Austria and Italy as well as at opera houses in Germany and Switzerland. Concert tours have taken her through Europe, Asia and South America, including commitments to the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Eutin Opera Festival, the Freistadt Opera Festival, the Rossini Festival on Rügen, Johannisberg Castle in Rheingau, the Grieg Festival Bergen, the weaver -Tagen Eutin, at the Goethe Institutes in Lima, La Paz, Bogota, Caracas, the Center of the Arts Singapor, the University of Brasilia, ISAF Afghanistan, the Kulturhuse Odense.
