Bio: Soprano Brigitta Simon was born in Budapest (Hungary) and received her initial musical education in Győr. After high school graduation, she began her vocal studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. She has been awarded numerous prizes at national and international singing competitions: 2003-2008 National Singing Contest for Music High Schools (1st Place and special prize), Ádám Jenő National Song Competition (3rd Place), János Richter Singing Contest (best Interpretation Prize), National Song Contest for Music High Schools (2nd Place), József Simándy National Singing Competition (3rd Place), 1th Opera Competition and Festival with Mezzo Television (Finalist), 15. International Singing Competition Ferruccio Tagliavini (4th Place) In 2009 she was a finalist of Placido Domingo’s “Operalia” singing competition and was invited by Placido Domingo to sing with him at his concert in Pécs, Hungary, together with the competition’s prize winners, as a special award. In 2010 she gave her operatic debut at the Music Festival in Steyr in the role of „Zerlina” (Don Giovanni by W.A. Mozart). In 2011 she was a member of Placido Domingo’s Young Artist Program in Valencia, Spain, where she sang the following roles: „Lucy” (G. C. Menotti: The Telephone, under the baton of Placido Domingo), „Barbarina” (W.A. Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro), and „Najade” (R. Strauss: Ariadne auf Naxos). She was then offered an engagement at the Valencia opera house for the 2011/2012 season where she performed in „Sopranéitor 3000” (Opérame Qué diablos es la ópera?), and sang the roles of „Belinda” (H. Purcell: Dido and Aeneas), and „first Handmaiden” (L. Cherubini: Medea). In 2012 she was awarded a scholarship by the Dr. Robert und Lina Thyll-Dürr. In January of 2013, the Vienna Schlosstheater Schönbrunn saw her as „Susanna” (W.A. Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro). In February she gave two „Greetings from Austria” concerts in Podgorica and Tivat (Montenegro). She performed „Adele” (J.Strauss II.: Die Fledermaus) in the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn in March. In June she sang the „Queen of the Night” (W.A. Mozart: The Magic Flute) on the “Neue Studiobühne” of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. August saw her return to the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn, again as „Adele” in a “Fledermaus”-production of the IsaOperaVienna and Orangerie Schönbrunn. In October she was a finalist and prize winner of the „International Beaumarchais-Concours” singing competition, giving her the opportunity to sing two laureate concerts in the “Mozarthaus” Vienna and at the Vienna State Opera. In 2014 she was awarded a scholarship by the sic itur ad astra (siaa) foundation. In February she performed in three more “Greetings from Austria” concerts in Podgorica, Tivat (Montenegro) and in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina). On the 21stof February she sang at the opening ceremony of the 57th Ball of the Viennese Coffee House Owners in the Vienna Hofburg with Kristiane Kaiser and the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra under the baton of Uwe Theimer. She performed the role of „Olympia” (J. Offenbach: Les Contes d’Hoffmann) on the “Neue Studiobühne” in June, as well as completing her master’s degree in opera summa cum laude. She was awarded 3rdprize at the international Ljuba Welitsch singing competition in July. She performed in the "Siaa Foundation presents: Matinnee of Arias" concert with the Kammerphilharmonie dacapo München in October. In November, she sang in the Vienna Volkstheater as a finalist of the "Casinos Austria Rising Star Award" music competition. January 2015 saw her performing a new-year’s concert with the Wallersee Philharmonic Orchestra. In February, she performed with the Montenegro Symphonic Orchestra, giving two “Greetings from Austria” concerts in Montenegro (Podgorica and Herceg Novi). She performed at the „Bascarsija Nights“– Festival in Juli, whereshe gave a concert with the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra. In August, she sang “Adele” (J. Strauss: Die Fledermaus) at the Schlosstheater Schönbrunn in a production staged by the IsaOperaVienna and the Orangerie Schönbrunn. She was awarded 4th place and the special prize at the International Dostal Operetta Vocal Competition in November, and was a finalist of the "Casinos Austria Rising Star Award" music competition. In December she performed in the "Siaa Foundation presents: In Memoriam Götz Friedrich” concert at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. 2016 began with her performing a new-year’s concert with the Sinfonietta Baden Orchestra, after which she gave two concerts with the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra in Montenegro (Podgorica and Niksic). She sang “Donna Anna” (W.A. Mozart: Don Giovanni) at the Aschaffenburg theatre and at the Lessing theatre in Wolfenbüttel (both Germany) on the 26th and 28th of February, respectively. Together with the Tenor Jinxu Xiahou, she gave a recital with opera arias in the “1873 – HalleNsalon” of the Hotel Imperial Vienna on the 3rd of March. She performed in the Siaa Foundation gala concert with the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra in the Mozart Hall of the Wiener Konzerthaus in April and in an additional Siaa Foundation concert in Kaunas, Lithuania with the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra. In July, she performed again at the “Bascarsija Nights” festival in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) with the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra. In January 2017, she gave a New Year’s concert with the Wallersee Philharmonic Orchestra in Henndorf (Austria). On 21st January, she sang a concert with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra in the Great Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatorium (Moscow, Russia). In February, she again gave two concerts together with the Montenegrin Symphony in Montenegro (Podgorica and Niksic). On 25th February, she performed in a concert entitled “Dein ist mein ganzes Herz” with Klaus Florian Vogt, Silvia Krüger and the Johann Strauss Orchestra of Wiesbaden at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt. On 28th May, she sang “Verso le stelle” with the Rossini Symphony Orchestra in the Siaa Gala Concert at the Rossini Theatre (Pesaro, Italy). In July, she once more gave a concert with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Sarajevo, as part of the “Baščaršija Nights” festival in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina). In August, she performed a concert with the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra at the “Festival international de musique symphoniqu ed' El Jem​” in El Jem (Tunisia). In August, she likewise appeared on stage in the Siaa Foundation concert at the Latvian National Opera (Riga, Latvia). In October she performed at the “Arctic Opera Festival” in a concert of the Siaa Foundation (Tromso, Norway). 2018 On 27th January, she sang at the “Viva Carnival” gala concert with the Celebrity Symphony Orchestra in Mississauga (Toronto, Canada). On 18th February, she sang at the Siaa Gala Concert with the Orquestra do Atlântico at the Casa de Música in Porto (Portugal). Two more “Greetings from Austria” concerts followed on 22nd and 23rd February with the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra in Montenegro (Podgorica and Tivat). On 12th May, she sang with Thomas Weinhappel and the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra conducted by Uwe Theimer at the opening of the 2nd Austria Ball in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina). In May, she sang “Pelzchen” in a Vienna Boys Choir production of Gottfried Von Einem’s “Tulifant” at the MuTh, the concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir (Vienna, Austria), and in June, at the Esterhazy Palace (Eisenstadt, Austria). At the end of June, she completed her Master’s degree in Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy (Classical Singing) at Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts. In August, she sang her first Verdi title role “Violetta Valéry” in Verdi’s “La Traviata” at the Werdenberg Castle Festival (Buchs SG, Switzerland). On 2nd November she sang at the Siaa Gala Concert with the Orquestra do Norte at the Aula Magna in Lisbon (Portugal). At the end of November, she completed her Master’s degree in Lied and Oratorio at Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts. On 1st December, she sang an evening of arias with Helmut Deutsch at the City Palace Liechtenstein (Vienna, Austria). In January 2019, she gave three New Year’s concerts with Munich’s Dacapo Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra at Lake Tegernsee, in Pullach and, finally, in the Hercules Hall at the Munich Residenz (Germany). In February, she sang two concerts especially for the Fasching carnival season entitled “The Blue Danube and Radetzky” with the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra – directed and conducted by Kálmán Berkes - in Dunaszerdahely (Slovakia) and in Mosonmagyaróvár (Hungary), and gave two further “Greetings from Austria” operetta concerts with the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra in Montenegro (Podgorica and Pljevlja). On 13th April, she sang at the grand opening of the “2019 Kempinski Vienna Ball”, with Thomas Weinhappel and the Wiener Strauss Festival Orchestra, at the Kempinski Hotel Peking Lufthansa Center in Peking (China). On 24th April, she gave a concert entitled “Spring Voices” in Sopron (Hungary) with the Franz Liszt Symphony Orchestra. In May, she performed at two concerts organised by the Siaa Foundation: with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra in the Great Hall of the Berliner Philharmonie (Germany), and with the Symphony Orchestra of the city of Oviedo at the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo (Spain). In August, she gave a concert together with the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra, at the Amphitheatre in El Jem (Tunisia) as part of the “Festival international de musique symphonique d'El Jem​”. In October, she sang in the role of “Adele” in Johann Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus” at the Ybbsfelhalle in Blindenmarkt, Austria, as part of the 30-year Jubilee production of the “Autumn Days in Blindenmarkt” (Herbsttage Blindenmarkt) festival. On 20th December, she performed in the “Nutcracker” concert in Győr (Hungary), where she sang Mozart’s motet “Exsultate, Jubilate” (KV 165), together with the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra. On 25th December, she gave a festive opera and operetta concert together with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra in the Great Hall of the Berliner Philharmonie (Germany). 2020 On 2nd January, she sang at the “Song, Pathos, Passion” New Year’s Eve Musical and Operetta gala with the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra in the Audi Arena (Győr, Hungary). In February, she performed with the Montenegro Symphonic Orchestra, giving a “Greetings from Austria” concert in Podgorica (Montenegro). In March she gave an opera and operetta concert together with the Chamber Orchestra “Con Fuoco” in the Stefanie Hall of the Musikverein Graz (Austria). In August, she sang the role “Micaëla” in Bizet’s “Carmen” at the Werdenberg Castle Festival (Buchs SG, Switzerland). Because of the current corona pandemic, all upcoming events of the year had to be cancelled or postponed.
