Bio: CAMILLA ILLEBORG, soprano Award-winning Danish soprano Camilla Illeborg has performed at numerous theatres and festivals throughout Europe and beyond as both an opera singer and as a devoted interpreter of art song. In the coming season, Camilla Illeborg will debut the role of Cleopatra/GIULIO CESARE IN EGITTO at the Cairo Opera House in Egypt. The season also offers a Nedda/I PAGLIACCI at Opera Frederiksberg, as well as a series of recitals in Scandinavia.  In 2015, Camilla Illeborg met with roaring success in her role debut as Violetta Valéry/LA TRAVIATA at Opera Frederiksberg, where she also appeared in the role of Pamina/DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE. Other engagements last year included the roles of Gilda/RIGOLETTO with Opera i Provinsen, Maria/OPUS 2 at the Court Theatre in Copenhagen, and a series of recitals in Germany and Denmark, including with the Hegel Quartett and with the Royal Danish Opera.   In the 2013-14 season, Camilla Illeborg appeared at the Royal Danish Opera/GuidOpera as both Micaëla/CARMEN and Kate Pinkerton/MADAMA BUTTERFLY. Her season also featured her role debut in Mimì/LA BOHÈME at Opera Frederiksberg, Verdi’s MESSA DA REQUIEM, and concerts in Italy and Denmark. In previous seasons, Camilla Illeborg has appeared at Teatro Verdi in Trieste in the role of Ein junger Hirt/TANNHÄUSER and as Sandmännchen and Taumännchen/HÄNSEL UND GRETEL at Operaen i Midten, Denmark. Other engagements have included concerts with the Orchestre Symphonique du Mont-Blanc (released on DVD for Vivalda Editori), Gli Archi del Cherubino, and at the Cairo and Alexandria Opera Houses with The Cairo Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Marcello Mottadelli. Other career highlights include the roles of Zerlina/DON GIOVANNI, Mademoiselle Silberklang/DER SCHAUSPIELDIREKTOR, Helena/A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, Uruk/GILGAMESH, and Euridice/UN CANTANTE ALL’INFERNO, as well as a recording for MR Classics. Camilla Illeborg is a graduate of the Royal Danish Academy of Music. She specialized in the Italian bel canto repertoire with Mirella Freni, Renata Scotto and Mirella Parutto in Rome and at the Città Lirica Opera Studio at Teatro Carlo Goldoni in Livorno. She currently studies with Sherman Lowe in Venice. In 2006, Camilla Illeborg won a series of prestigious prizes at the Conegliano, Ravello Città della Musica, and Silvio Omizzolo voice competitions. www.camillailleborg.dk
