Bio: Cathrin Lange was born in Aachen and studied singing at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen with KS. Prof. Soto Papulkas and Jagna Sokorska-Kwika. She is currently being looked after by Tobias Meisberger.
The soprano has attended numerous master classes, among others with Brigitte Fassbaender, Norman Shetler, Julie Kaufmann, Klesie Kelly and Ingrid Kremling.
From 2009 to the end of 2017, Cathrin Lange was a member of the ensemble at Theater Augsburg. Other guest engagements took you to the Komische Oper Berlin, the State Opera Stuttgart, the Theater Basel, the Aalto Theater Essen, the State Theater Darmstadt, the State Opera Saarbrücken, the State Theater Linz, the Graz Opera, the Oldenburg State Theater, the Palatinate Theater Kaiserslautern, the Ulm Theater and the Salzburg State Theater.
Since March 2018 she has been engaged at the Staatstheater Darmstadt.
In February 2022 she will again be a guest at the Graz Opera, where she will sing the midwife / Signe in Georg Friedrich Haas's opera Morgen und Abend.
Her numerous repertoire includes the following roles: Gilda (Rigoletto), Olympia (Hoffmann's stories), Adina (L'Elisir d'Amore), Pamina and 1st Lady (Magic Flute), Mélisande (Pelléas et Mélisande), Musetta (La Bohème ), Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Oscar (masked ball), Sandrina (La finta giardiniera), Blonde (The Abduction from the Seraglio), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Despina (Così fan tutte), Ännchen (Der Freischütz) , Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Adele (Die Fledermaus) and Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady).
In addition to her theater work, the artist also devotes herself to concert and oratorio singing. She sang a German Requiem by J.Brahms, Messiah by GFHändel, The Creation by J.Haydn, the 4th Symphony by G.Mahler, Canticle of Praise by F.Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Kaddish by L.Bernstein, the St. Matthew Passion by JSBach, the Requiem and the Coronation Mass by WAMozart, the Requiem by G.Fauré, Carmina Burana by C.Orff and the Mass of the Children by J.Rutter.
Cathrin Lange has been working closely with the Bastian Walcher Quartet since 2019. The first CD "Arien, Jazz und Zimtsterne" promises a Christmas crossover of baroque music and jazz. At the end of 2020 the new CD "Arias in blue" will be released.
In 2017, Cathrin Lange was nominated for the Austrian Music Theater Prize for the role of the blonde as the best female supporting role. In 2014 she was awarded the Bavarian Art Prize in the “Performing Arts” category. In 2012 she received the Augsburg Theater Prize in the “Music Theater” category.
