Biography
Bass-baritone Cory McGee opens his 2022-2023 season performing the role of Caspar in Weber’s Der Freischütz with Wolf Trap Opera and Dottore Grenvil in Verdi’s La traviata with Houston Grand Opera. This season, he will portray the roles of Johann in Massenet’s Werther, Fifth Jew in Strauss’ Salome, and Jailer in Puccini’s Tosca all with Houston Grand Opera. Last season, Cory made his debuts as Colline (La bohème, Detroit Opera) and Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia, Opera on the James). He was also seen as Theseus in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Santa Fe Opera. Further engagements included Billy in the world premiere of Thompson’s The Snowy Day, and Virgil in the world premiere of Cohen’s Turn and Burn (postponed due to COVID-19), both with Houston Grand Opera.
