Bio: Baritone Dan Kempson recently joined the roster of the Metropolitan Opera to cover Jake for the US premiere of Nico Muhly's Two Boys. Career highlights include performances with the Santa Fe Opera, Spoleto Festival USA, Pittsburgh Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Syracuse Opera, Shreveport Opera, Caramoor Festival, Opera Saratoga, and St. Petersburg Opera (FL) in a wide variety of roles including Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Marcello (La Bohème), Argante (Rinaldo), Tarquinius (The Rape of Lucretia), Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte), Belcore (L'elisir d'amore) and Papageno (Die Zauberflöte).
In concert, he has been a soloist with the Pittsburgh Symphony, Wichita Symphony, Erie Philharmonic, Asheville Symphony, and Savannah Philharmonic in repertoire such as Carmina Burana, Handel's Messiah, and the Brahms Requiem. Winner of awards from the Sullivan Foundation, Gerda Lissner Foundation, and Opera Index, Dan is a graduate of the Merola Opera Program, Manhattan School of Music, and Peabody Conservatory. Mr. Kempson lives in New York City.
