Bio: Daniel Inbal grew up with music. With his father, orchestral conductor Eliahu Inbal, as an example, Daniel Inbal seemed from an early age destined for a career in classical music. He studied piano performance at the Hanover University of Music, Theater and Media with David Wilde and orchestral conducting with Leopold Hager at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts.
Daniel Inbal experienced early successes as a conductor in 2003 with the Prussian Chamber Orchestra, where he served as chief conductor for three years. During this time he was also assistant conductor of his former teacher, Leopold Hager, at the Volksoper Wien, as well as beginning a still flourishing frequent guest conductorship with the Staatsorchester Braunschweig. After his time at the Volksoper, Daniel Inbal exchanged Vienna for Bern, where he was invited to be Kapellmeister at the Stadttheater. After the years in Bern, he moved to his current position as Kapellmeister at Theater Osnabrück in 2010. Alongside these responsibilities, Daniel Inbal has been regularly invited to guest conduct and work with orchestras all over the world, including the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Gürzenich-Orchester, the WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra and the Orchestra Nazionale della RAI.
As an opera conductor, he has had many successes, including at the Volksoper Wien (Die Lustige Witwe, Der Graf von Luxemburg), Staatstheater Braunschweig (Lucia di Lammermoor, L'incoronazione di Poppea), Stadttheater Bern (Madama Butterfly, Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny, Le nozze di Figaro, My Fair Lady, Falstaff, La Traviata, Rigoletto), Opera National du Rhin in Strasbourg (Ariadne auf Naxos), The Israeli Opera (Madama Butterfly) and Theater Lübeck (Thaïs). In 2010, Daniel Inbal had the opportunity to lead the orchestra of the Opera Vlaanderen for the world premiere of The Rage of Life by Elena Kats-Chernin. This success was followed two years later by the participation in a new staging of Parsifal, directed by Tatjana Gürbaca, a production that Opernwelt voted "Production of the Year" in 2013 and which won the renowned International Opera Award for "Best Wagner Anniversary Production" in 2014. Daniel Inbal returned to Flanders again for Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui's choreography Fall to music by Arvo Pärt and most recently for Benjamin Millepied’s Bach Studies.
Among his numerous productions in Theater Osnabrück are the world premieres of Nadar Mashayekhi’s Neda- Der Ruf and Sidney Corbett’s San Paolo after an unrealized film script by Pier Paolo Pasolini, the German premiere of Dvorak’s Vanda and Britten’s Owen Wingrave. He conducted performances of pieces like Walter Braunfels’ Die Vögel, Busoni’s Doktor Faust and Magnard’s Guercoeur. This season he will be responsible for the musical direction of Dido and Aeneas and Die schöne Galathee.
