REPERTOIRE: La Boheme by Giacomo Puccini *Don Carlo -- 4-Act 'Milan' version (1883) in Italian by Giuseppe Verdi L'elisir d'amore by Gaetano Donizetti *La Giara, Op. 41, the complete ballet by Alfredo Casella (1924) danced, costumed and performed with orchestra before the public. The ballet is now confirmed. Rehearsal details in framework of the Masterclass will be posted during the early spring. All three operas are sung in the original language and are fully-staged productions with costumes *Inexpensive scores are available. Please contact us for more information. OVERVIEW OF THE CONDUCTING MASTERCLASS The Blue Danube Advanced Opera Conducting Masterclass 2019 is limited to the first qualified 10 conductors who apply, are accepted, and confirm their places with a deposit.We are often asked if it is necessary for conductors to know all operas in order to take part in our Opera Conducting Masterclass. The answer is NO; we encourage conductors to divide their podium time between all operas, but some conductors trade podium time with one another so they are able to devote more time to and focus on only one or two operas. In our suggested and standard format, each active-participant conductor conducts a full act or ca. 1/3 of one of the operas in a public performance, in addition to having much rehearsal time on the other two.
