From South Korea, baritone Gihoon Kim has risen to prominence following a string of international competition successes, including winning Second Prize and the Audience Prize at Operalia 2019 and the Second Prize at the 2019 International Tchaikovsky Competition. Gihoon is a former member of the Junges Ensemble at Staatstheater Hannover which he joined after his studies with Kwan-dong Kim at the Yonsei University in Seoul. This season Gihoon will make his Glyndebourne Festival debut in a new Barrie Kosky production of Dialogues des Carmélites conducted by Robin Ticciati, and will sing in gala concerts at the Mariinsky Theatre Concert Hall and Zaryadye Hall in Moscow at the invitation of Valery Gergiev.
