Hayoung Ra was born in Seoul, South Korea, where she also successfully completed her bachelor's degree at the Korea National University of Arts with Youngmi Kim. She then continued at the University of Music and Theater in Hamburg in the master's degree in opera with Michaela Kaune. Already during her studies she interpreted roles such as Pamina in The Magic Flute, Anna Reich in The Merry Wives of Windsor, Morgana and Oberto in Handel's Alcina, Adina in L'elisir d'amore and Susanna in "Le nozze di Figaro" continues. Her oratorio solos include Bach's St. John Passion, St. Matthew Passion and Christmas Oratorio, Haydn's The Creation, Mendelssohn Elijah and Mozart's Exsultate, Jubilate KV 165 and several repertoires.
