Biography
Dutch-Mexican Itzel Medecigo studied at the Escuela Superior de Música of Mexico City and at the Utrechts Conservatorium in The Netherlands. Under the guidance and input of Ignacio Mendoza, Luba Orfenova, Nicoletta Olivieri, Jard van Nes, Graciela Araya, Janet Williams, Norma Suárez, Susan Young, Dobrinka Yankova, Peter Lockwood, Eva Maria Westbroek, among others, Itzel developed her artistry, style and vocalism. In 2007 Itzel was awarded the prize for "Best interpretation of Mexican Art Song"at the Maritza Alemán Singing Competition. In 2013 and 2015, Itzel took part in the Talent Development Programme of the Dutch National Opera. World premières have been also part of her career.
