Bio: The soprano Jessie Nguenang is a French native and American resident  hailing from Lyon. In May 2014 she graduated from the internationally prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, where she successfully performed the role of Fiordiligi in Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte in which was said in the Philadelphia Inquirer about her performance "Nguenang navigating Fiordiligi's wide ranging arias with particular artistry". With AVA she also did extensive concert work including solo appearances at Philadelphia’s Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Recently, Jessie performed the final act from Verdi’s Aida under the tutelage of famed mezzo soprano Dolora Zajick at the highly selective Institute for Dramatic Voices in Reno, Nevada. She had the opportunity to perform Muzetta, Mimi and Marguerite over the US. Upcoming engagements include an orchestra concert in Washington D.C where Jessie will sing the Four Last Songs of Richard Strauss and the Brahms requiem. Jessie is living  in the US where she is performing recitals and concerts on the East Coast and in Europe as well. She recently received an opera singers grant from the Anna Sosenko Assist Trust foundation. In 2013, Jessie earned 3rd prize at the international opera competition in Arles, France at the Concours Opera en Arles. Prior to AVA, Jessie was a scholarship recipient at the New England Conservatory in Boston which she attended for voice performance. In Lyon after the Conservatory, she  was selected as a resident artist singer at the professional international young artist program of Opera de Lyon where she performed at the Puccini Festival. Furthermore Jessie had the opportunity to perform the lead role of Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus at the Marseille and Avignon opera houses. Her Opera de Lyon debut was in 2010 as Lily in Porgy and Bess, a role she reprised at the Edinburgh Festival also in 2010. Other than opera, Jessie had a unique early training in the harpsichord, basso continuo, recorder, and the renaissance lute in her formative musical training at the Superior Conservatoire de Lyon and the Conservatoire de Tours.
