The young heldentenor Johan Weigel first started his vocal studies as a baritone in his country of birth, Sweden, but graduated as a tenor. To further establish his tenor voice, he then continued his studies at Indiana University, Bloomington U.S.A with James King and James McDonald. His first professional job as a soloist Mr.Weigel got at the DNT in Weimar where he celebrated his successful debut as Tamino in the Magic Flute. There followed contracts at the Volksoper in Vienna, where he sang leading roles in operettas, and in Stuttgart, where he embodied roles as Pollione in Norma and David in Die Meistersinger.
