Bio: Under the musical direction of Helmuth Rilling, Johannes Schwärsky portrayed PIZARRO at the sides of Jonas Kaufmann within the frame of a half scenic production of the Bach Academy and ESCAMILLO at the Teatro Municipal de Valparaiso (Chile). In the world premiere of a modern version of Mozart’s „Die Entführung aus dem Serail“ he sang OSMIN under the baton of Sylvain Cambreling. He made his debut as MUSTAFA in Rossini’s „L’Italiana in Algeri“ at the Summer Opera in Selzach / Solothurn (Switzerland). Together with Angela Gheorghiu and Placido Domingo he sang in a Gala-concert of Tosca at the Innsbruck Theatre. In a production of Andreas Dresen he interpreted MASETTO at the Basle Theatre. At the Munster City Theatre he portrayed GIORGIO GERMONT, WAARLAM in „Boris Godunow“, ATHLETE and TAMER in Berg’s „Lulu“ and the title part in DER FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNDER. The press wrote: Johannes Schwärsky gave an excellent performance. His voice makes him a natural for the role of the Dutchman. It was due to him, this singer with the expressive and secure voice and the enormous charisma, that the evening became a great pleasure. The artist performed PÈRE LAURENCE in Berlioz‘ „Roméo et Juliette“ and the 4 VILLAINS in „Les Contes d’Hoffmann“ at the Giessen City Theatre. At the Berlin Concert House he sang the bass soloist part in Verdi’s Requiem. At the Flensburg City Theatre enjoyed great triumph in the role of DOKTOR FAUSTUS, one of the biggest roles for bass baritone that exists, in Ferrucio Busoni’s opera. Since 1996 the artist works free-lance, singing parts such as SCARPIA, RIGOLETTO, FALSTAFF, WOLFRAM, FIGARO, DON GIOVANNI, GIANNI SCHICCHI and OCHS VON LERCHENAU at the opera houses of Frankfurt/Main, Wuppertal, Schwerin, Darmstadt, Kassel, Bad Hersfeld, Stuttgart, Bremen, Oldenburg. Since 2001 there is a close artistic collaboration between Johannes Schwärsky and the Philharmonics of the Nations under the musical direction of Justus Frantz. Before starting his singing studies with KS Kurt Moll and Lisa Hagenau at the Hanns-Eisler-Music Conservatory, he first made an apprenticeship as a carpenter at the workshop of the Berlin Theatre, where he constructed decorations and stage settings. Later, he became a member of the opera studio at the Komische Oper Berlin. Johannes Schwärsky was prize winner of the International Alexander Girardi Competition and finalist of the Cestelli Competition in Dresden. Johannes Schwärsky regularly performs at the made his spectacular debut in the title role of Tschaikowsky’s Mazeppa at the Krefeld/Mönchengladbach Theatres. Here he sings a.o. STANKAR in Verdi’s Stiffelio and the 4 VILLAINS in ‘The Tales of Hoffmann’. Besides, he made his fulminant debut in the title part of Tschaikowski’s Mazeppa : Let’s start with the outstanding achievements of the protagonists; first and foremost the guest singer Johannes Schwärsky as Mazeppa, who pushes the limits of the possible not just vocally but also as an actor. In the last years one has seldom seen such an impressive performance in Krefeld. Der Neue Merker He could recvently be seen as s FALSTAFF (Verdi) at the Oldenburg State Theatre. At the Osnabrück Theatre he impressed as PROMETHEUS in Braunfels’ opera ‘Die Vögel’. In summer he was celebrated as AMONASRO at the Eutin Festival.
