Bio: Jure Počkaj is considered to be one of the most recognizable baritones between Central and Southern Europe by international critics and media. For his performance at the Hans Gabor Belvedere competition, Andy Wilding wrote, "Perhaps more noticeable with baritones is the necessity to control vibrato, lest it interfere with pitch. Jure Počkaj mastered the application of tasteful vibrato, giving us ‘Bella siccome un angelo’ Donizetti Don Pasquale in a lovely gentle timbre and superb intonation. His bass register has ample projection, and his physical drama makes him an entertaining performer to watch."
The highlight of his 2019/2020 engagements was Miller from Luisa Miller at the Slovene National Theatre Ljubljana. One of the special roles he now proudly showcases in his concerts is the role of Bogomil from the first Slovenian singspiel Jamska Ivanka which he debuted in 2019.

In Le Salon Musical the Italian critic, Rino Alessi, wrote, “Jure Počkaj interacts with his friend-rival in the best way and reveals a beautiful bond as well as a baritone timbre in full maturation and a praiseworthy, albeit perfectible, search for expression. An artist who is still very young to follow with interest.”
