Bio: Kasper Holten was born 1973 in Copenhagen. He has directed opera, drama, musical, operetta and film in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, UK, Germany, France, Austria, Italy, Spain, Russia, US, Japan and Australia. He was Artistic Director of the Royal Danish Opera 2000-2011 and headed the opening of Copenhagen's new opera house in 2005. He was Director of Opera at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden 2011-2017. He has directed at Covent Garden, La Scala Milan, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Wiener Staatsoper, Theater an der Wien, Opera National de Lyon, Teatro Real, and Opera Australia. Key productions include Wagner's Ring (Copenhagen 2006) and Szymanowski's Krol Roger (London 2015 and Sydney 2017). Future plans include Carmen on the lake stage of Bregenz Festival and the Danish premiere of the musical "Book of Mormon". In 2009 he directed a feature film JUAN based on Mozart's Don Giovanni. He has received numerous awards as well as a Knighthood and the medal "Ingenio et Arti" from HM Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.
