Bio: Lynn Kao is regarded as one of the most inspiring Asian American female conductors of her time. Her career started after a sensational performance of Evita, where she jumped in at the last minute to conduct the Hessische Staatsorchester Wiesbaden. She was the first Asian American female conductor to conduct the Wiesbaden State Orchestra in the Wiesbaden Opera House. Her vast repertoire consists of not only opera, but also includes musicals and operetta such as My Fair Lady, Candide , Graf and Luxemburg, Fledermaus...etc
Ms. Kao's recent ballet production “Weltenwanderer“, where she worked closely with choreographers Itzik Galili, Edward Clug and Marco Geocke, brought the ballet and orchestra collaboration to a brand new level. Ms. Kao conducted Winter from Vivaldi‘s Four Seasons, followed by the Mozart Piano Concerto in A major K488, where she performed as soloist and conductor at the same time. In the second half, Ms. Kao was on the stage with the dancers as part of the choreography, performing five Chopin Nocturnes, ending with the spectacular Bach Orchestra Suite Nr. 4, which she conducted from the harpsichord. The Hessischer Rundfunk (Hessen Radio Station) calls her the „wonderful Lynn Kao“ and the Frankfurt Allgemein Zeitung (Frankfurt main newspaper) praised her as „magician of the evening“.
Her creation of the Young People's Concert Series „Operntrailor“, a combination of opera overtures, movie theme songs, slide shows and cartoon video clips, She moderated, conducted, sang and played the piano, which brought many young people into the opera house wanting more. She is invited to plan the second Young Pople's Concerto Series, which will take place in 2017 all over Germany.
After her piano debut at age seven in the Yamaha Recital Hall in Taipei Taiwan, Ms. Kao was recognized as one of the most promising young pianists in the world. Since winning the Kosciusko Chopin Piano Competition in New York, Ms. Kao has performed in USA, Asia and Europe. While representing the USA in the International Chopin Festival in Duzniki Poland, Ms. Kao's performance was broadcast on the Polish National Television. Along with winning the „Public's Favorite“ Award in the Festival, she was praised by the Poland National Press „Ms. Kao deeply captured the public‘s attention from the moment she walked on stage until the last note of the Chopin Sonata Nr. 3“.
Ms. Kao was invited by the the Cleveland Institute to record the Tibor Serly Piano Concerto „3x3“ with the Czech Symphony Orchestra. The recording is a part of the „Fleisher Collection Series“. After her performance of the Chopin Piano Concerto Nr. 2 with the Hilchenbach Philharmonic, Ms. Kao was invited to be the assistant Professor in Essen Folkwang University. Two years later, she was also the assistant Professor in Cologne School of Music. She recorded the „Cello Masterclass“ with the renowned cellist Maria Kliegel for the Schott Musik Verlag.
After winning the Val Tione International Chamber Music Competition with her piano trio Enos, Ms. Kao toured Europe with Enos Trio, giving masterclasses and concerts. The Enos Trio created two important young people's concert series in Bunatal and Wuppertal, Germany; where the young people received private lessons and performed with members of the Enos trio in concerts.
Since 2009, Ms. Kao has been conductor and pianist in the Wiesbaden Opera House. She is also the principal conductor of the Blechensemble Wiesbaden. Her guest performances in Germany include Staatsstheater Darmstadt, Das Meiningen Theater, Theater Hof....etc.
