Bio: Praised for her “Pleasing, lustrous voice with depth and power,” young lirico-spinto soprano Megan Marie Hart is quickly gaining recognition for her compelling vocal expression and dramatic stage presence. Since 2015, she has been in the ensemble of the Landestheater Detmold, where she sang the title roles in Aida, Tosca and Luisa Miller, Mimì in La Bohème, Chrysothemis in Elektra, Gilda in Rigoletto, Marguerite in Faust, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, Arminda in Mozart's Die Gärtnerin aus Liebe (La finta giardiniera), Elle in La voix humaine, Sylva Varescu in Die Csárdásfürstin, and the soprano solos in Carmina Burana, Mahler's 2. Symphony, and Elias. She performed in concert with the Philharmonie Südwestfalen and the Orchestergesellschaft Detmold, and in countless concerts and Galas with the Symphonische Orchester des Landestheaters Detmold. In the 2019/2020 season, Ms. Hart made her debut in the title role of Aida and continued her great succes in the title role of Luisa Miller. She sang the Soprano Solo in Suppé’s Requiem with the Göttinger Symphonie Orchester, and Strauss' Vier letzte Lieder with the Orchestergesellschaft Detmold. Previously, she sang the role of Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail with the Bühnen der Stadt Gera, Donna Anna in Zomeropera Belgium’s Don Giovanni, and returned to Annapolis Opera to sing Gilda in Rigoletto. Ms. Hart made her Carnegie Hall debut in a recital of Liszt Songs with the Marilyn Horne Legacy at Carnegie Hall, covered the role of the Friedensbote in Opera Orchestra of New York's Rienzi, and won First Place at the Liederkranz Foundation Competition. She joined the New York City Opera roster to cover Marie in Rufus Wainwright's opera Prima Donna, made her Annapolis Opera debut as Juliette in Roméo et Juliette, and appeared at Union Avenue Opera as Wellgunde in Das Rheingold. As a three-year resident artist with the prestigious Seattle Opera Young Artists Program, she performed the roles of Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, Tatyana in Eugene Onegin, Tytania in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, and the title role in Rita. Other favorite roles include the title role in Alcina, Almirena in Rinaldo, Sibyl Vane in The Picture of Dorian Gray, Amina in La Sonnambula, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte, Elle in La voix humaine, Blanche in Les dialogues des Carmélites, and the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro. As a concert soloist, Ms. Hart has performed with the Seattle Symphony under the baton of Marvin Hamlisch, and in a televised performance of Beethoven's 9th Symphony for the Dalai Lama and Desmond Tutu. She appeared in concert with Rufus Wainwright and the Oregon Symphony. She has collaborated extensively with Music of Remembrance, a Jewish chamber ensemble, performing works by Holocaust era composers and poets. Ms. Hart earned both her Bachelors and Masters degrees at Oberlin Conservatory, and her Professional Studies Certificate at Manhattan School of Music. Megan Marie Hart is a student of Marilyn Horne. Megan Marie Hart hatte am gestrigen Abend ihr Debüt als AIDA. Die Sopranistin, Mitglied des Detmolder Ensembles, hatte bereits vor wenigen Monaten erst glanzvoll ihre erste LUISA MILLER an gleicher Stelle präsentiert. Und schon da fiel sie durch ihre ungemein warme Stimmfärbung, bis in die Tiefen ihres Soprans gehend, so überaus angenehm auf. Und diesen Eindruck wiederholte sie in ihrem persönlichen Rollendebüt als AIDA auf höchst eindrucksvolle Weise. Eine Stimme, geradezu wie erschaffen für diese speziellen Verdipartien und von hohem Wiedererkennungswert. Dazu mit einem Stimmvolumen, welches die tückischen Höhen ebenso wie die Tiefen dieser Partie erreicht und ausfüllt und dabei ist Frau Hart jederzeit in der Lage, mit ihrem Gesang die Emotionen der äthiopischen Königstochter dem Publikum so spürbar zu vermitteln. Neben dem gesanglichen Teil ihrer Rolle punktet sie aber auch mit ihrer sensiblen Darstellung dieser in vielerlei Hinsicht anspruchsvollen Partie.

Bei den Solisten muss Megan Marie Hart an erster Stelle genannt werden. Ihre Sopranstimme verfügt über einen sehr guten Körper und ein beeindruckendes Volumen, beides lässt auch stimmlich schwerere Verdi-Rollen in Zukunft durchaus möglich erscheinen.

Megan Marie Hart ist Luisa Miller. Und wie sie das war! Was für ein Rollendebüt! Der Publikumsjubel und die vielen Bravorufe für ihre Leistung waren mehr als berechtigt. Ihr raumfüllender Sopran war in seiner Tiefe, wie auch in der Höhe, von großartiger Präsenz und stimmlichem Wohlklang und ihre schauspielerische Darstellung im gesamten dritten Akt war von einer Gänsehaut erzeugenden Faszination, für die mir nur ein Wort einfällt: BRAVO!
