Skatīt dalībniekus un komanduwas born in the Bach city of Arnstadt in Thuringia. From 1966 until graduation in 1973 he was a member of the St. Thomas Choir in Leipzig. After his time in the army, he studied singing with Kammersänger Prof. Kurt Hübenthal in Weimar. His first engagement took him from 1979 to 1982 at the Anhaltinisches Landestheater Dessau. He was then engaged at the State Opera Unter den Linden in Berlin. During a guest performance abroad in Athens in September 1983, he then made the decision not to return to the former GDR. Until his engagement in Bern in August 1984, he worked as a freelancer at the Südfunkchor in Stuttgart. Rolf Scheider has been a member of the Bayreuth Festival Choir since 1985. Scheider has already worked with the following directors: W. Herzog, Götz Friedrich, Herheim, Schlingens
