Bio: Romely Pfund studied piano and conducting in her native town of Dresden. She was prize winner of a conducting competition in Geneva and took part in the highly regarded conducting course in Tanglewood (USA) in 1986. Romely Pfund completed her education with leading figures in the world of conducting, including Kurt Masur, Leonard Bernstein, Seiji Ozawa and Gennadi Roshdestwenski. From 1987 to 1996 she was Generalmusikdirektorin (musical director) of the Neubrandenburger Philharmonie. She has conducted among others the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, the Dresdner Philharmonie and has given guest performances at the Komische Oper Berlin and at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Romely Pfund has worked together with many renowned soloists, including Peter Schreier, Teo Adam, René Pape, Frank Peter Zimmermann, Chrictian Tetzlaff, Natalia Gutmann, Lars Vogt und Sabine Meyer. Romely Pfund has made many records and CDs at home and abroad and many of her concerts have been recorded by Deutschland Radio Berlin, SFB, WDR and NDR. From the season of 1998/99 to 2009 she was musical director of the Bergische Symphoniker. In 2001 the orchestra and its musical director won the prize for the “Best Concert Programme” awarded by the Deutsche Musikverlegerverband. In 2003 Romely Pfund received the Kulturpreis der Bürgerstiftung Baden in Solingen. From 2009 until 2012 she worked as director of opera and 2009 she has been music director of Landestheater Neustrelitz. Since 2013 she is a lecturer at Musikhochschule Lübeck. In 2013 Romely Pfund received the Kulturpreis des Landes Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Since 2013, she is a lecturer at the Musikhochschule Lübeck, where she is responsible for several opera projects. In May 2015 she performed the "Operndirektor" by Domenico Cimarosa in a co-production of the Theater Lübeck and the conservatory. From July to September Romely Pfund stayed at the Centor Tedesco di Studi Veneziani in Venice for research purposes.
