OWEN WINGRAVE —Benjamin Britten Pacifism – trigger of a family tragedy

Johan Hyunbong Choi sang the title role with a lithe baritone, impressive from start to finish as he breaks away from his family in his grand monologue and finally agrees to spend the night in the haunted room out of love for Kate . Wioletta Hebrowska sings Kate with a dramatic mezzo-soprano and her resolute playing leaves no doubt as to who will be in charge in a possible marriage to her. Her mother, the ambitious officer's widow Mrs. Julian, was in good hands with Andrea Stadel with her bell-like soprano. Yoonki Baek as his rather flippant friend Lechmere, who improves his chancesKate sees, after breaking away from Owen , that she presents his lyrical tenor, confident in the high register, while Sabina Martin , as the traditional, elegantly dressed Miss Wingrave, Owen 's energetic aunt, knew how to resolutely use her dramatic soprano. Gerard Quinn as the trainer Spencer Coyle with the noble character baritone and the beautiful-voiced soprano Evmorfia Metaxaki as Mrs. Coyle were the compensating, balancing poles of this production. Finally, the character tenor Wolfgang Schwanninger offeredas the aged, still war-obsessed head of the family, General Sir Philip Wingrave in his dress uniform, an intense study of stern, merciless authority.

Night & Day - Up and down Broadway , Michael Wallner - based on music and lyrics by Cole Porter

The story" , the framework story was negligible. It was also difficult to remember once you had left the theatre. There was no claim to present a "Cole Porter Story" . Instead, we had Nina Bülles, Lorena Mazuera Grisales and Marlou Düster on stage, who, in partly unflattering costumes, gave a brilliant performance in terms of dancing and acting. We saw and heard "opera voices"; Voices that sometimes added a little too much heaviness to Porter's smug lightness . Because we all know the numbers that were thrown together here to form a kind of revue, after all they fill the standard program of the “Great American songbook”, which has been inspiring audiences for decades by each of the great entertainers, show and film stars. But Daniel Schliewa as Cole, Sara Wortmann as Angel, Rudolfkatzer as Hermann and other actors breathed life into us. Life in this pandemic! With their radiant happiness and lightness, they picked up the audience and took them with them. I laughed, drummed the beat with my feet, and had a hard time holding myself back from singing along to the "popular songs".

Emancipatory women's power

Director Ezio Toffolutti, who as a universal artist is also responsible for stage design and costumes, relies primarily on the emancipatory strength of his protagonist in the production of Maestro Puccini's own favorite opera "Madama Butterfly" at the Lübeck Theater. Butterfly, who was sold as a wife to the American naval officer BF Pinkerton, who was only interested in sporadic pleasure, exoticism and sex tourism, is by no means submissive to her new husband. She encounters the man whom she blindly decided to love in a devastating manner without any shyness and without modest gentleness. Rather, something decisive, resolute and in a certain way - think
